As requested, here comes the first part of my last trip to Macau, Shenzhen and Hong Kong! I guess this entry would keep you peeps occupied for quite a while (:
I was extremely excited and anxious as that day was nearing. It was our first virgin overseas trip, and also my first overseas trip alone with my boyfriend ((: Not forgetting, it was sorta like to celebrate his birthday too! :D
Our flight is at 6am, and we gotta be at the airport by 4.30am to check in. Darling was so excited that he couldn't nap for long before our flight. As for me, I gotta finish up some work stuffs before i leave for my holiday. Hence, i didn't catch a wink at all ):
Started preparing at 2plus going 3, doing last min check to make sure i don't miss out anything. Kept ensuring that i've placed my passport in the bag. That's the most important thing you know!
Then darling called me at 3.20am telling me he've reached. I was panicking as we agreed to meet at 3.30am. Yes, 10 minutes means a big difference to me! Anyway, his dad and him were waiting for me downstairs. So bad to make his dad waits for me =/
Carrying a backpack and dragging a luggage excitedly walking towards his dad's cab.
Reached airport at bout 4.05am. Our flight TR 2902 at 6am to Macau.
Did one last pack, squeezing everything into my luggage.
Queuing for check-in. The queue wasn't that long when we reached! =/ Look at my puffy and tired eyes! So ugly ):
While waiting, camwhore first (:
Macdonald breakfast after checking in our luggage. Fill our tummy first, then sleep in the plane later! (:
As usual, i had my egg muffin breakfast. Darling had his big mac with coffee.
Hair-check after breakfast to make sure i look presentable. Hehe!
Time check - 5.20am. Queuing for our departure.
That idiot went to buy his cigarettes from DFS. I will show you how many he bought later >:/
While waiting for me to get things from guardian, he is entertaining himself by coloring it.
His masterpiece! (:
Heard the last call for our flight. So we had to hurry to get to the boarding gate.
Right, while waiting for the plane to take off. As you can see from my side window the wings of another plane parked beside ours.
Shortly after, the plane took off. We were so tired that we slept throughout almost the whole journey. Ok, at least for me =/
First sunset at around 6.20am.
It was really beautiful as when we are on the ground, the sky is still quite dim at that time.
Around 7plus, the sky was slowly brighten up.
Woke up and realised that we were almost reaching! (: The plane lowered from the blanket of clouds above, and mini patch of green can be seen below us.
Touched down at around 9.40am at Macau on 18th August.
Few glimpses of Macau while waiting for the plane to pull over at the designated spot.
Smooth touched down and reached our destination safely. Waiting to clear the immigration checkpoint.
Macau cabs
Hopping on one to get to our hotel. We asked how do they charge before hopping on to one as we don't wanna get con. Lol! They charge according to meter.
The cab was rather decent. Though it's not that spacious as sg's, but at least the air-con is working great!
Chit-chatted with the nice taxi uncle. He advised us on where to go (:
Along the way to the hotel. Macau are well-known for their casinos. I was rather amazed by the number of casinos they have. There are a lot of them around!
Arrived our hotel at about 10.45am. The hotel we stayed in was called Hotel Sun Sun ( 新新酒店 ). It was a small hotel. Roughly about S$90 per night for standard room. Prepare $500 (Macau / Hong Kong dollars) for deposit of the room. They will return the $500 during check-out.
Very beautiful hotel lobby right? But don't be shock when you see our room later. We took the standard room as we only stayed for a night.
Darling was doing the check-in. Let the man do the job! Hahaha!
Our hotel room. Told you, the hotel lobby is deceiving. But nevertheless, at least it wasn't that bad till it was so unbearable. I only have complains for the bed as it was very HARD! -.- Check out the
GREAT difference between our room and the rest.
Views from our room. At least there was a bit of 'seaview'.
The toilet. From the corner of the picture, you can see the bathtub.
We were so tired that after settling down, we took a nap before we decide to go out in the noon (around 1pm) to explore.
Took a photo before we left.
We stayed on the 6th level (:
Holding darling's new gadget. His early birthday present from his baobei, me! :D
Outside the hotel.
Surrounding of our hotel. The cab uncle shared with us that long ago, this place used to be red-light district. But don't worry, it's all clean now (: And it's consider a neighbourhood area.
Few steps away from our hotel, we saw this very interesting red thing. Guess what's that?
We guess it's their post box. But how come instead of overseas, it's complain(translated from Chinese character)? We don't understand the word under the chinese character either.
And as known, Singaporeans like to complain! Lol!
Walking away from our office to the Senado Square and Ruins of St Paul. We saw it along our way to the hotel on the cab. And we checked out that the places are near our hotel.
Darling: 'Chey! All these cannot be compare to mine in Singapore.'
Ponte 16 Hotel. There's a casino inside too.
Saw this temple in a neighbourhood area along our way.
Designated Poo-poo place for dogs. So cool!
So hungry that we bought some things to eat. The yu-dan is nice. Roughly S$0.50 for 5 of them. Yu-dan it's like their fish ball. And it's curry flavoured btw.
Reached the Senado Square. Very busy place i should say. Looks so different from our hotel area.
Darling with the 'signature icon' of Senado Square. If you see this, you're at the right place (:
Those European style architectures.
Yes, they have do have Giordano there too. But nah, we didn't go in.
Next we dropped by this place - Treasure of Sacred Art. There is a chapel for people to pray inside.
Roof of that holy place.
On their other levels, they have all these exhibition.
This ground is very scary as it's uneven. It feels so fragile every step we take.
2 bells on top and you can oversee the square from the windows.
Moving forward. At this time, we didn't know that we were actually getting nearer and nearer to the Ruins Of St Paul's. Guess this is the only place you can find the more 'expensive' shops.
Then we saw this uncle sitting in an old and dark shop making egg rolls. I am sure their egg rolls are very nice as it was only 2 or 3plus, but the egg rolls were all sold out! And they said 'come back again tomorrow'. Awww! I didn't manage to get any ): I am determine to get it the next time i go!
Just next to the egg roll shop, something attracted us - The Pepper Pastry. It's very unique as i don't think Singapore has it.
The pepper filling(meat &spring onion) inside is very nice while the skin on the other side is very crispy! Yummy!
So many photos of other things, so boring right? Take a break and look at my pretty face with the street! Heeees! Ya la. Thick-skinned! Lol!
Wonder why so many people were queuing for this store. Well, this store is selling nice bubble tea (we didn't try. Thinking of it, ya. WHY DIDN'T WE TRY?! -.-). The tv is advertising one of the Korean show when one of the leads visited/filmed at the bubble tea shop.
Busy street with one full stretch of shops selling handmade pastry.
Not forgetting the well known snack of Macau - Almond Cookies. They had sample placed there for us to try. We tried Abalone Ba Kwa as well and it is super delicious! Don't know whether can bring back to Singapore anot, so we didn't buy ):
Packing Almond Cookies in progress. You can see the almond is actually on the whole instead of blending into the cookie. Darling and I got 6 boxes in total as they are having promo. Buy 5 get 1 free.
After buying, we walked upwards the slope. To our surprise! We caught a glimpse of the St Paul's wall!
Whoooohooo!! We found our way by walking blindly there!
No more watching from the tv show or online, we finally see it standing right in from of us with our own eyes!
From different angle, it's just so beautiful and amazing!
Of cos, how can we miss taking photo with it? :D
If you go Macau, and you have never been there. Then you cannot say you have been to Macau. Cos Ruins Of St Paul's is one of the MUST GO place!
History of the historical wall.
Climbing up the flight of stair to get there with our goodies.
'HEY LOOK!! WE ARE GOING THERE!!'
Few more steps to touch the wall.
Here we are, at last :D
We climbed up to the 2nd level and overlook the whole ground floor behind the wall.
Peeping through one of the 'window'. The gold building is one of the grand hotel.
Looking downwards at where we came from.
That's where i were looking from, on the 2nd level.
Darling behind the Ruins of St Paul's.
That's where I was referring to, the 2nd level.
The place though is cooling, but i feel eerie inside as human bones are displayed inside the glass panel.
Exhibition at Ruins of St Paul's.
After leaving Ruins of St Paul's, we proceeded on to the Macau Museum.
We both were already dying from the heat and the thirst. To think we were both wearing jeans!
Tricycle of the olden days.
Rooftop of the Museum. Another picturesque view of almost the whole heart of Macau.
Haha! He's always full of nonsenses!
If only i am wearing the olden days European Military uniform with a blond curly wig....
Flowers in Macau.
The weather was so scorching hot that we didn't stay at the rooftop for long. It was so humid there! Made our way down and continued our walk around Senado Square.
Felt hungry again and we got this. It's like the Fresh Cut Fries that Bugis Junction used to sell. The white cream is mayo and wasabi.
After walking and shop for a while, we decided to go back and take a bathe before we have our dinner and explore other places. Places like the famous Venetian City! The most expensive hotel around in Macau.
As promise, picture of what my idiot darling bought at DFS! He got 1 big pack of cigarettes cos it cost only S$20+. But sad thing was, i sorta banned him from smoking infront of me. And so he only smoked 1 packed. Kept only 2 packs as the rest were confiscated at Hong Kong Immigration Checkpoint. Orh bi! LOL!
Anyway, click back here for the 2nd part of Macau. And geeez.. This entry took me 2 days to finish. Stay tuned for more! (:
P/S: Not all the photos are here, will upload them to fb soon (:
