Today is a fairly good day except that i am still very sleepy *yawns* Oh yes oh yes!! My right eyelid twitched!! Meaning good thing(s) gonna happen today!! Or has it happened? ((:
It's been a long long time since i feel this way (:
Took a power nap just now. I am so proud of myself, i managed to stay throughout the whole of today without sleeping in front of my pc in school (: Was practically another not so productive day again today. Zhili, daryl, chester and bala started school today. And bad thing bout school reopening.. Canteens are filled with people at 12pm!! Oh gosh!! So damn packed!
It seems like i haven't been updating much of my life lately. Let's see where i last stopped my updates.
6th October 2009
Met up with genieve, jiaen and sumin to celebrate jiaen's belated birthday. We had dinner at waraku and i really love their cream pasta. Talking bout that, my stomach is gonna protest soon.
Sumin and Genieve
Jiaen and I :D
3 of us had the same thing except for piggy wong! (:

7th October 2009
Clubbed at St James Powerhouse with buddy, eric loh, alvin, celest, weekiang, ryan, zhi wei and lawrence. Did i missed out anyone? I hope not. Right, that night i was having much fun but not as fun as at DP(drinking place) with buddy and his starhub friends. Hahaha! Nevertheless i enjoyed myself.
Ryan, WeeKiang and I
Buddy & I :D
Celest and Buddy :D
They were trying to do the 'Alamak' thing. Hahaha!
Zhi Wei, Weekiang and alvin in the background!
After clubbing that day, we went jalan kayu for prata before heading home.
8th October 2009
Met the cliques at bugis for steamboat session! I love steamboat!! Wheetsss!! But the foods which the store we went to, was not really nice! First and the last time there! Nevertheless, i enjoyed the company :D
9th October 2009
Went supper with buddy, eric loh and zoe. Eric loh came to fetch me and we headed down to sebawang road that dim sum shop for mine and zoe's supper, the 2 ericS' dinner. We headed down to seletar dam after that for some talk-cock-session. Hahaha!
The shop we patronised.
My favourite!! Wheeetssss!! Century Egg Siew Mai!! I am droolingggggg!!
The piping hot and crispy guo tie! That goes with the vinegar and ginger slice! Great combo!
It will be even perfect if it's not so charred! :D
Har Gao - which i can only eat 1 ):
Last saturday, went out with the 2 Erics to marina square for a lunch and movie - The ugly truth. It was awesome! That show just made me laughed non-stop! While watching the show halfway, eric loh showed me a msn convo, saying that HTC Touch 2 was selling at $1 that weekend at Starhub. I read in disbelief in the first place, but eric loh confirmed the news. It got us excited, and hence we 'flew' down to tampines mall to get them :D
While they were smoking, i was randomly taking photos around.
Say hello to my new gadget - HTC Touch 2! And it's brown!! :D
After getting the phone, Buddy went to his grandma's place leaving me and eric loh. Not knowing where to go, we went around hunting for foods. Ended up, we rode over to Ikea for dinner. Hahaha!
Then it was yesterday, sunday. I went out to meet vallence and kenny to do some shooting for the advertisement. After the shooting, had late dinner with the 2 Erics and celest. We went to bugis for fish soup! :D So yummy!! *Slurpssss* And as usual, there were a lot of rubbish in our convo! Hahaha!
Nice Houses opposite. I was observing the top level ones..
And right, in a blink of eye, tuesday is coming (: This week flies!
If there's a question i would have to ask today, it will be - what on earth is going on??!! Haha!
Can You Dominate Your Niche... Even If You're A Latecomer?
Tuesday, October 06, 2009 11:27 PM
Who was the first to create online bookstore? Who was the first to create the automobile (car)? Who was the first fast food chain?
If you answer: Amazon, Ford and McDonald's... you're WRONG!
In the new book I'll expose the "first mover advantage" myth... In reality, a lot of first movers/pioneers end up losing their market. The advantage doesn't lie with being the first. In fact, being the first has some great disadvantages!
Let me give you a couple more obvious examples:
Who is the biggest search engine on the Internet? Ans: Google obviously. Were they the first mover in the search engine? Nope!
Who is the biggest software company in the world? Ans: Microsoft. Did they pioneer their software? Nope! In fact, they have pioneered none.
What does this mean? Well, it means GREAT news for you if you're a latecomer or if you're just entering a niche. If you know what to do and how to do it, you can start late and become a niche dominator.
One of the key to become a dominator in you niche is to have better marketing strategies. Almost all of the dominant brands in any niche have superior marketing. This also applies outside of business. Just think of Obama. His campaign has much better marketing, a clearer message (part of a marketing strategy) and he won.
Another key to dominate your niche is to be different. Taking Obama as an example again, he did so many things differently. He is black. He reached out to the masses for donations instead of focusing on just a few which was the traditional way. He reached out to the younger generation which was largely ignored. His campaign used the social media effectively which other politicians didn't, etc.
And if you think he is a pioneer, being the first black man to run for president, nope he is not.
Do you remember the class joker in your school? If you do, chances are because s/he was different from the rest of your classmate. People tend to remember people or things or brands that are different.
So, the question is: Are you different from your competitors? Are you marketing yourself/your brand better? If you're not, it'll be hard to dominate your niche.
More to come soon...
By the way, do you know the answers to the first 3 questions? Who were the first online bookstore, automobile, fast food chain?
It's raining now. *yawns* Yea, i feel so much like sleeping. And moreover, it's a nice weather to sleep in and cuddle under the blanket! Then again, i am in school lab, freezing -.-
I am so looking forward to meet the girls (jiaen, sumin and genieve) tomorrow (: It's been a long long time since i last saw them. And so happened that i bumped into gen and sheng wei at far east last week while doing my shopping. Haha. Oh, talking bout far east. The thai food restaurant located at level 3, serves nice foods! Yummmy!! I had the pineapple rice and it was sumptous! I've yet to try the tom yam soup. Maybe next time. Come to think of it, a lot of nice foods can be found at far east. Chicken rice, the malay store (char kway tiao very nice!), the dessert store, the thai restaurant, duck noodles store and etc.. Oh gosh! I am tempting myself )):
Adding on, I am also very looking forward to this thursday to meet the cliques for dinner :D *sings* 'the more we get together, together, together'. Hahaha! I am keeping my fingers crossed if we will have full attendance this thursday. Hahaha! The 10(maybe excluding liang yu, cos of NS) of us plus G and the 2 JWs.
Let me backtracked a little. Last week, i went to Ion Asian Kitchen for dinner after shopping in far east plaza. The sour plum duck was heavenly! Apart from this, we ordered taiwanese oyster soup (orh lua soup w/o the mee sua), salted egg long beans, fried tofu, and a dessert (red beans dumplings). Hold on, let me see if i can get any photos to aid in your visualisation. Hahaha! Pardon me, i am blogging this in school, hence no photos.
The following night, after work with shaun and doreen. Headed down to raffles to meet buddy and his friends for a drink. Drink, drank but not drunk. Played dice and sang with them. What a night! It's been such a long since i went out to 'havoc' like that. It was fun! :D
Last night, was a spooky yet memorable night. Maybe, let's start with the day. Met ed for late lunch at yorks hotel in the afternoon. I was anticipating as the pictures on the website shown was really tempting (okay, maybe the chocolate fondue). When we started on the foods, we were rather disappointed. And making worst, was the varities of foods they offered. Conclusion, first and last time patronising there. Then we went over to boarders and spent hours there to read.
I only like the appearance of the foods. Other than that, it was disappointing.
Bout 8pm, vallence and kenny came over to pick me. Task of the night, go all over singapore to take photos for a web portal(will reveal when they're done) they are working on. I went to places i have never been to, let alone know bout that place. We bumped into spooky stuffs at changi too, and that really freaked me out! ): We accidentally 'invaded' a haunted territory ): But luckily, we were safe.
On a lighter note, the guys really entertained me the whole night. Hahaha! Take the Naughty G drink for instances. Out of curiosity, they tried that drink to see what's the effect of it, will it turn out to be like what it claims on the packaging? Hahaha! Their comments was really very hilarious! Hahaha! Instead of increasing sex drive(which is what the pictures depict), their head felt light and weird. I took a slip of it, i kept yawning after that. Hahaha! The original flavoured tasted like red bull, while the coke-flavoured tasted weird. LOL! And haha, the guys were so disturbed by the drinks the whole journey! Conclusion, the effects was otherwise.
Click on the image to go to the website. Read the substance they have added, and you'll know what i meant. LOL!
I am still craving for century egg siew mai despite having last night! The first time having, but the taste is so unforgettable! And to think, eric loh made it worst by telling me bout this thai noodles in lavendar! I am really eager to try it out to see if it's really that delicious like he claimed! Not only this!! He told bout me this sashimi buffet too!! Oh man!! But hahaha, i won the bet. So he's gonna treat me sashimi buffet! OMG! Overjoyed! Cos foods do wonders and make me happy too!!
Hahahahaha!! Blurrpp~! I am feeling cold and sleepy!
